This takes about five minutes. You will check a small FSH profile, read what SUSHI says about it, and fix it.
1. Open the FSH Checker
Open the app and choose FSH Checker in the top bar (on a small screen, open the menu at the top right first). The left side is your FSH. The right side shows results.
2. Check the example
The editor starts with the example Broken profile (4 mistakes). Press Check FSH, or press ++ctrl+enter++ (++cmd+enter++ on a Mac).
The first check downloads the base FHIR R4 package (hl7.fhir.r4.core 4.0.1) from packages.fhir.org. That takes a few seconds. Your browser keeps a copy, so later checks are faster and work offline.
3. Read a result
Each card shows:
- Error or Warning, and which tool said it (SUSHI)
- line N: click it to jump to that line in the editor
- a short title and what the message means
- Try this: a fix you can copy
- Original message: the exact text from SUSHI
- Read more: the matching part of the FSH spec
Use Errors and Warnings above the list to show only one kind.
4. Fix it
Make the changes the cards suggest, then check again. Or pick Same profile, fixed from the Example menu to compare. When there are no errors, you see a green banner and the FHIR JSON that SUSHI made.
5. Next steps
- Use your own FSH: paste it, or press Open .fsh file. The file is read by your browser and never uploaded.
- If your FSH uses another implementation guide, add it under Dependencies, for example
hl7.fhir.us.core#6.1.0. - A command-line tool, not available to download yet, will also run the HL7 FHIR Validator.
