The FSH Checker runs SUSHI 3.21.0, the official FHIR Shorthand compiler, inside your browser and explains every message it prints.

Check your FSH

  1. Paste FSH into the editor, or press Open .fsh file.
  2. Press Check FSH (or ++ctrl+enter++).
  3. Work through the cards from top to bottom. Earlier errors often cause later ones.

Limits: up to 100 KB of FSH and up to 5 dependencies per check. A check that takes longer than two minutes is stopped.

Use another implementation guide

Open Dependencies (optional) and list packages as packageId#version, separated by commas:

hl7.fhir.us.core#6.1.0, hl7.fhir.uv.ips#1.1.0

Packages must be published on packages.fhir.org. Builds from build.fhir.org (#current) are not supported in the browser.

What the checker does not do

  • It does not run the HL7 FHIR Validator. SUSHI can compile an Instance that still breaks its profile's rules. A command-line tool, not available to download yet, will catch that on your computer.
  • It only supports FHIR R4 (4.0.1).
  • It does not generate a full implementation guide. It compiles FSH only, like sushi -s.

When a message has no explanation

You still see the message, its line and the original text, with a general hint.
